Update 18-Jun 2020
Our lawyer in Belgium has requested access to the ongoing criminal procedure on the Vestiville case, and our request has since been denied. The court have stated there is no reason to grant this in the view of the urgency of the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing and we will be kept updated in the process.
We have published the courts official response in the screenshots below.
Update regarding Vestiville 2019 cancellation (updated: 5 Feb 2020)
Following the cancellation of Vestiville 2019, Festicket made a civil claim against the festival organisers. This claim has been added to the current criminal investigation between the organisers and the authorities. As of 5th December, this investigation is still ongoing. Unfortunately, we do not have much information on the investigation itself because this is confidential as per Belgium law. We do not get any information until the public officer declares the investigation finished.
As a reminder, Festicket was contractually instructed by the festival to sell tickets on their behalf. As a ticket agent, we were required to pay the ticket money to the organisers in advance of the event, which we did. The festival organisers have not been running away from the responsibilities and our team continue to try to contact them on a regular basis. We know that there is an ongoing dispute between the insurance company, Vestival BVBA and the City of Lommel. We have been informed that this process can take up to 6-months, so we are now waiting for the outcome of this legal process.
Our team together with our lawyer in Belgium are still on the case to make sure that priority #1 is customers and the recovery of their funds. Festicket will continue to update our customers on any further update as it happens. Resolving this case on behalf of our customers is the highest priority for all our teams involved as we are still hoping we can get tickets refunded rather sooner than later. We share our customers’ massive frustration in this situation and greatly appreciate their continued patience on this matter.
